Glimmingehus
6 Borgvägen Hammenhög
Glimmingehus was built between 1499 and 1506. The Danish knight Jens Holgersen Ulfstand, who at that time was a significant nobleman and statesman, had the fortress erected. At this time, Skåne was part of Denmark. The castle originally served as a residence and as a defence facility in a politically turbulent era.
Today, Glimmingehus is a museum, operated by the Swedish National Antiquities Board. The visitor center provides extensive information about the history and architecture of the castle. The exhibition inside documents the life in the Middle Ages and the history of the region. They also provide guided tours, giving visitors a detailed insight into the construction and historical significance of the castle.
